Meet the Midwife
Midwifery Experience
The way we birth is a legacy - not only to our families, but to our communities and each life we touch. Nurturing care in pregnancy, birth and the postpartum period brings a confidence and peace to women and their families that transcends the birth experience. This is the care Anita endeavors to provide to every family she serves and at every birth she attends. The hours of time spent throughout pregnancy, as well as caring encouragement, help to establish a relationship of trust and friendship that will create the best possible birth experience.
Anita birthed her first child at home in 1981, sensing immediately that she was called to serve women in thsi capacity. Throughout the following 14 years, she birthed her remaiining 7 children at home (including twins!) and served family and friends with their births as well. In 1996, she joined a local midwifery practice in which she served as an apprentice until 2002. Anita also became a certified doula, childbirth educator (CCE) and certified massage therapist (CMT) speicializing in perinatal and infant massage, and became certified as perinatal finess educator (ICPFE). Afterward, Anita traveled to Tennessee, Pennsylvania and the Dominican Republic to broaden her midwifery skill set. As a result, she was enabled to practice midwifery in an extended variety of birth settings. In 2008, Anita completed the requirements to become a Certified Professional Midwife (CPM) and subsequently registered to practice midwifery in the State of Colorado (RM).
